James Lockamy

James is a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Georgia, expected to graduate in Spring 2029. He joined CREATE to get hands-on experience and to collaborate with other students on real-world engineering challenges. At CREATE, he intends to further develop his technical skills, learn from experienced team members, and to contribute meaningfully to interdisciplinary projects.

Outside the lab, with interests branching into the fields of aerospace, electrical and general manufacturing, James is actively involved in several student organizations across campus, including ASME, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)’s beginner rocketry programs, and the UGA Manufacturing Club. Through this involvement he works towards strengthening his abilities in CAD modeling, CNC machining, programming, product design, and system integration, as well as deepening his understanding of the extents of mechanical applications across industries.
